The actor had shared the screen with Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu(2011) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns(2015).
R Madhavan’s highly awaited Rocketry: The Nambi Effect has finally hit the big screen today. After years of proving himself in front of the camera, the actor took on the role of director and producer as well for the film. When it comes to Madhavan’s on screen work, the actor has been a steady presence in South Indian cinema and Bollywood as well. For those familiar with the actor’s Hindi filmography, Tanu Weds Manu would definitely find a place among one of the actor’s most popular and celebrated films. After two successful films in the franchise, fans are still wondering whether the quirky couple would return to screens yet again. Madhavan recently put those questions to rest.
In an interview for jaby koay Youtube channel, the actor spoke of how he was not interested in returning for a third instalment in the franchise. “I think that’s water under the bridge. No point in beating a dead horse”, he said.
The actor went on to talk about how difficult it was to come up with original stories as is, let alone without the expectations from fans. Madhavan gave the examples of superhero films like the Avengers franchise, which had a kind of ‘template’, making it easier for filmmakers to helm a film along those lines. But that was not the case with Tanu Weds Manu. Madhavan said that he was ‘done’ with the franchise and that he did not want to go back to being Manu again. The actor also spoke of how many Indian audiences might have found the films relatable, which was why the movies were such a hit in the country.
Madhavan had shared the screen with Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu(2011) and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns(2015). The films were directed by Aanand L. Rai. Tanu Weds Manu can be streamed on Apple TV, while TanuWeds Manu Returns is available for streaming on ZEE5 and Eros Now.
