News of the Kabzaa director and actor reuniting for another project has not gone down well with the actor’s fans
On the eve of Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep’s birthday, announcements of some of his new films have started trickling in. While the big one, the title of his next, #Kiccha46, is expected to happen at the stroke of midnight, the buzz is that #Kiccha47 and maybe a few more will also be revealed. One of the actor’s upcoming collaborations has been revealed as a project with Kabzaa maker R Chandru. This news, though, has not been met with jubilation, with several netizens wondering if it was a prank. Chandru has, however, made an official announcement, saying that the script has been okayed by SS Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad. The actor’s detractors are having a field with this, stating that the actor is preparing for retirement by doing films with directors like Chandru.

But why are Sudeep’s fans not keen on a film with Chandru? In Kabzaa, which has Upendra in the lead, Sudeep was roped in for a cameo with barely 5 minutes screen time. The actor had said that he could not say no to Chandru when he came with the request. However, by the time the film was ready for release, Chandru had not only also added a miniscule cameo by Century Star Shivarajkumar, but also begun marketing it as a three-hero project. Chandru had even got Sudeep to join the team at some of the promotional events outside of Karnataka, considering that he has a sizeable fan following in other states too. When the film came out, audiences realized that Chandru had not done justice to the role, getting Sudeep to play a police officer called Bhargav Bakshi, who does not even get a wrinkle on his face in the 40 years between the events with Arkeshwara (Upendra) and modern-day, when he narrates the story of the gangster.
