The actor known for pulling through dark comedies is now taking on more conventional action comedies such as Free Guy
For several years Ryan Reynolds was unable to break into the list of Hollywood’s top leading men. His major breakthrough should have been in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Wade Wilson/Deadpool. However, the film and his character received severe backlash, due to how poorly written his character was and how the writers completely ignored the source material. His run of bad luck would continue after he was cast as the lead, Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, in the ill-fated Green Lantern film which bombed at the box-office. The release of the critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past, paved the way to erase the X-Men Origins: Wolverine version of Wade Wilson/Deadpool from Fox’s shared X-Men universe, and create a more comic book accurate version of the character. Reynolds reprised his role as the antihero for the R-rated 2016 film, titled Deadpool, and broke several box-office records. So it’s hardly surprising that he is now considered as one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
