Starring Mammootty in the lead, the movie also features Parvathy, Appunni Sasi and Nedumudi Venu.
Mammootty’s latest film Puzhu has had film fanatics talking ever since its release on Sony LIV. First time director Ratheena, who has impressed one and all with her debut, has now opened up about working with Mammootty and her ambitions of making a film with the star.
In an interview with Film Companion, the director spoke about actually making a film with the legend. She said, “There are many reasons for that. I think Mammukka is the easiest for directors to approach with a movie idea. That’s why he has so many debut directors working with him. If you have a story to narrate to him, it’s not impossible for it to happen.”
She added that there are no systems that would block her chance to reach him and that this idea was there in her head and so, she approached him with ease. Ratheena further said that subconsciously it was all about making a film with Mammootty and that whatever she would do she would come back to making this film.
Puzhu sees Mammootty play a former IPS officer in the movie. He delivers yet another character that will go down as one of his best performances in the recent past. The film explores the complicated relationship of a single father and his son.
“Puzhu is yet another testimony to what a brilliant actor Mammootty is. Referred to as Kuttan by some of the characters, Mammootty plays a toxic single parent in this psychological thriller, who brings up his son alone in an apartment that's hardly visited by anyone other than the residents,” read the movie’s review on OTTplay.
Written by Harshad, Sharfu and Suhas, Puzhu also has music composed by Jakes Bejoy. The thriller drama film is available to stream on Sony LIV.
