Sharad Kelkar, last seen in The Family Man 2, has requested the producers to invest in him as an actor. He spoke to PTI and opened up about his desire to work as a lead actor.
“I am waiting for people to look at me… when will people see that I am also capable (enough)? I also want to take the burden (of a project) on my shoulders. On the series front, I haven’t signed anything. Hopefully, I will do a big OTT show,” the actor told the wire agency.
“Also, the kind of films I have been doing, like supporting roles, there might be a thing that people consider me as a supporting role. Typecasting happens. It is a humble request to all producers, consider me and put some money on me," he added.
Sharad is a popular actor in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. He has been a part of projects like Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Laxmmi, Bhoomi, Lai Bhaari and Housefull 4. However, the actor has only worked in supporting roles in the aforementioned films.
He, in fact, played the antagonist in most of his films, when Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. approached him with The Family Man. "When Mukesh Chhabra offered me this role, I gave the audition and then had a meeting with Raj and DK, who are brilliant writers. I am glad I was getting to work with Manoj Bajpayee sir,” he shared.
Sharad plays the role of Arvind, who is Suchi (Priyamani)’s lover and colleague. Suchi happens to be the lead protagonist Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee)’s wife. Frustrated with being a housewife, Suchi decided to enter a business, which is when Arvind came into the picture and the two got close.
The actor will next be seen in National Award-winning director Abhijeet Warang’s Deja Vu. He also plays a pivotal role in Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, Bhuj: The Pride of India.
