Allu Arjun’s latest film Pushpa: The Rise is basking in the glory of success at the box office across the world, breaking records. The film was released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam in theatres before its OTT premiere. The Hindi version of the film has recently created history by entering the 100-crore club. It has become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2021. One of the highlights of the film is the actor's look.
The look of the actor for the movie was created by makeup artist and prosthetic look designer, Preetisheel Singh D’Souza. But the prosthetic look designer says she cannot take the entire credit for his convincing look in the movie. She says it is because of the actor's hard work that he looked so convincing on screen. "There aren’t enough words to describe his dedication towards his roles," she says.
A recent video has been doing the rounds that shows Allu’s transformation for the film. He is getting into the skin of the character with the help of stellar prosthetics and makeup. The actor is seen undergoing an intense makeup and prosthetic session with Preetisheel and her team. Right from getting his eyebrows and curly hair right to getting the perfect skin colour, the actor aced the look.
D’Souza shares her experience working on the film in her press statement. Commenting on her experience of working on the project, she says, “This was my first experience in South and it was quite a different and surreal one. The average range of Allu Arjun sitting in the chair would be an hour and a half," she says adding that the time taken to get ready could exceed to even more than two hours as sometimes, they need to do a full-body makeup.
She says Allu is extremely dedicated to his work and she falls short of words when it comes to describing the actor's sincerity and hard work. “My experience working with him has been fabulous. He is a full-on entertainer. He dives into his character fully, the moment he comes on screen, you don’t feel like watching anything else. He can overpower the whole frame I feel," she says. She adds that the actor is extremely patient, which made the technician’s job very easy.
Pushpa’s dream run at the ticket counters worldwide has surprisingly surpassed the collections of the biggest box-office hits from different language industries, creating a new box office record for Allu Arjun. After extending its theatrical run, the film also made its OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video in five languages - Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
The film, directed by Sukumar and produced under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Ajay Ghosh.
