One of the biggest movies of the year has hit the theatres this week, and there is no way we are not talking about the disruption it has caused at the Pan-India box office as it enters its first proper weekend. Yes, we are talking about Pushpa 2: The Rule, which stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in leading roles. The movie, a sequel to the 2021 hit film, has managed to break many records with its opening day collection. This box office monster has not only opened to an impressive Rs 150 crore-plus collection but has also surpassed RRR, which previously held the record for the biggest opening in Indian cinema. The Allu Arjun-led film is a rage, and below is everything you need to know about it.

As per trade site Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 is a massive success on its first day itself, ringing in Rs 175 crore. What is noteworthy here is that Pushpa 2 was released on a Thursday, which was neither a public holiday nor a festive window. This means the movie has earned purely on the basis of the immense buzz surrounding it. The film has also become the first ever to cross Rs 50 crore in two languages simultaneously.

What’s even bigger is that the movie has surpassed the opening day collection of the Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer epic RRR. Rajamouli’s film held the record with a staggering Rs 156 crore, but with a collection of Rs 175 crore, the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 has surpassed RRR by a significant margin. In the Hindi belt, the movie has earned Rs 66 crore. With the added advantage of an extended weekend, it will be exciting to see how much Pushpa 2 earns over four days.

Pushpa 2 Hindi Box Office

Pushpa 2 has now dethroned Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan from the top position of highest box office openers in Hindi with its Rs 66 crore collection. Jawan previously held the record with Rs 64 crore. The movie, released in September last year and directed by Atlee, was a major success. The Allu Arjun starrer has also surpassed KGF: Chapter 2's Rs 52 crore Hindi opening, which was the record holder before the Rashmika Mandanna starrer.

Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar, stars Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, and a recurring ensemble from the first film. The storyline takes place sometime after the events of the first film, where we meet a now happily married Pushpa who continues to deal with Shekhawat as a lingering threat. The story also delves into Pushpa’s lack of a family name and aims to establish its significance. Anything more than this would be a spoiler.
