Pushpa 2 apart from the great box office is also in news because of the unfortunate incident that took place on the screening day in Hyderabad when a woman lost her life in stampede.
Varun Dhawan Backs Allu Arjun In Stampede Row
Pushpa 2 has been dominating headlines for its phenomenal box office performance over the past eight days. However, alongside this triumph, the film has been embroiled in an unfortunate controversy. Superstar Allu Arjun has been arrested and placed in 14-day custody in connection with the stampede incident at a Hyderabad theatre that resulted in the loss of a life. Despite Allu Arjun offering compensation and support to the affected family, this development has added a somber note to the film’s success story. Actor Varun Dhawan has now come forward to defend Allu Arjun, urging people not to place the blame solely on him.
For those unaware, the tragic incident occurred during a screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where 35-year-old Revathi lost her life in a stampede. The chaos was triggered when Allu Arjun visited the theatre to greet fans. Following the incident, the actor announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the deceased's family and assured them of his personal support. He also pledged to cover the medical expenses of a critically injured boy. Despite his efforts, the police have arrested Allu Arjun, holding him in custody for 14 days.
Varun Dhawan, currently promoting his film Baby John, expressed his support for Allu Arjun during a press event. Commenting on the incident and the actor’s arrest, Varun stated that the responsibility for such tragedies cannot be placed solely on one individual.
At the event, as reported by Mid-Day, Varun candidly said, "Har cheez ek actor apne par nahi le sakta hai. We can tell people around us. Jo hadhsa hua hai vo bohot dardnak hai, and I send my condolences, but at the same time blame mein sirf ek insaan par nahi dal sakta."
During a recent Pushpa 2 success meet, Allu Arjun addressed the stampede row with visible grief. Reflecting on the incident, he said, "The incident that took place in the Sandhya Theatre is very unfortunate... I'm shocked. It took me hours to process it and respond to the incident. I couldn't process it psychologically—it took me around 10 hours. We all blanked out when we heard the news. Sukumar sir also got extremely emotional. I will personally meet the family later. We will always be there and try to support them."
