Purananooru – It has been reported that Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan will be playing the characters that were earlier confirmed to be committed by Suriya and Dulquer Salmaan.
According to latest reports, two young stars have been roped in for the lead roles of Sudha Kongara’s next Tamil directorial, Purananooru. It has been reported that Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan will be playing the characters that were earlier confirmed to be committed by Suriya and Dulquer Salmaan.
Sources claim that the discussions for the works on Purananooru are progressing, and more information regarding the cast and release date is anticipated in the next few days. According to reports, the project is based on the Tamil Nadu movement against Hindi imposition in 1965. Nazriya Nazim will be portraying the lead female role.
Following the highly regarded release of Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya, Sudha Kongara declared her collaboration with the actor again, and Purnanooru—the film's working title—was released. However, even a year after its official announcement, the movie has already been released and sparked rumours. Suriya reportedly left Purnanooru due to ‘creative differences’, but he had revealed in an interview that he parted from the project amicably, so there was no bitterness between the actor and Kongara.
Not wanting to shelve her high-profile project, Sudha Kongara reportedly talked to Sivakarthikeyan about replacing Dulquer Salman and approached Dhanush about taking Suriya's place.
Soorarai Pottru, Sudha Kongara's last film, won five National Film Awards and received high appreciation for both its direction and performances. The director is preparing for Sarfira, the Hindi version of the Tamil movie, to hit theatres soon this year. In the Hindi version, Suriya makes a cameo appearance, and in the remake, Akshay Kumar plays the lead role. The character of Aparna Balamurali is being portrayed by Radhika Madan. Sarfira is centred on the big dream of a common man and how he pursues it in spite of numerous obstacles. It is set in the world of the aviation industry. After its recent release, the movie's trailer garnered positive feedback from audiences.
