Pukar: Jagapathi Babu turns villain for Farhan Akhtar's next

Helmed by Swades and Lagaan famed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar, the upcoming venture is jointly bankrolled by him and the Rock On star.

Jagapathi Babu is currently all geared up to make his debut in the Bollywood industry with the upcoming movie Pukar starring Farhan Akhtar and Rakul Preet Singh as its female lead. He is touted to portray the role of an antagonist in the film.

Also expected to be a big budget entertainer, Pukar is perceived to be a fast-paced adventure thriller, which will also feature animals in the movie. The upcoming thriller-outing is slated to take off with filming by the end of this year. The shooting is likely to take place in several exotic jungles and overseas.

Veteran lyricist, script writer and father of Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar, has penned the script for the upcoming adventure-thriller. He is best remembered in recent times for penning the poetry narrated by Farhan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Jagapathi Babu is known to have portrayed an antagonist in several movies in Telugu and Tamil. He also made a mark in the Malayalam and Kannada film industry in many of his earlier ventures. Most of his movies earned him recognition along with multiple awards and accolades in the regional film industries.

Jagapathi's upcoming projects include Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Prabhas’ Salaar among others.

Pukar also marks the first time where Rakul Preet Singh is paired up with Farhan Akhtar. Like Jagapathi Babu, she has also made her mark in almost all the regional film industries, especially in Telugu and Tamil. Her upcoming ventures include Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan, John Abraham’s Attack and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G among others.
