Pruthvi Ambaar (of Dia fame), whose last theatrical release was Dooradarshana, in March last year, is finally back with another. This time, he is in more familiar territory, a modern-day love story, in which he, as per the character teaser that was released today, is playing a chef. The film is written and directed by debutant Vaibhav Madhav, who has graduated from the Prague Film School, and pairs Pruthvi with Rishika Naik. A heartwarming love story deserves a good release date and the team has zeroed in on the Valentine’s Day week, and will bring Juni to theatres on February 9.

Meanwhile, Pruthvi, who made his Hindi and Marathi film debuts with the remakes of Dia last year, has an interesting line up of films in Kannada. There’s Bhuvanam Gaganam with Pramod and Rachel David, For Regn with Milana Nagaraj, Life is Beautiful with Priyanka Upendra and Lasya Nagaraj and Matsyagandha with Gopalkrishna Deshpande. In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Pruthvi had spoken about the increased interest filmmakers had been showing in him following the success of Dia on OTT, but that his objective has been to try and pick films with variety, so as not to get stuck in the routine lover boy mould.

Pruthvi Ambaar: After Dia, I got a bunch of good experimental films, but I need to prove my marketability to sustain that

The good number of films at hand has been of no comfort to Pruthvi, who is still looking forward to delivering a commercially viable project at the box office. That, he says, is the only way he can ensure longevity to his career as an actor. Right now, it is still a struggle to get his films into theatres, as distributors and exhibitors weigh the marketability of a leading man. Just one hit film could change the whole game for him, Pruthvi had said, adding that if this success eludes him, he may not able to do the kind of films/roles he wants to explore.
