The film is supposed to be released in six Indian languages.
Films like RRR, Pathaan, and Projapoti have proved that good content can attract the audience to cinema halls. Two of them are regional films but are milestones according to business. Subhrajit Mitra, the director of Avijatrik, is bringing his next venture with this purpose in mind. The director’s new film is based on Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Debi Chowdhurani. The star cast is the greatest surprise of the film. Srabanti Chatterjee will play Debi Chowdhurani and Prosenjit Chatterjee will play Bhabani Pathak. While Srabanti’s name as Debi Chowdhurani has been speculated, Prosenjit’s casting came as big news.
Prosenjit said that he did not sign the contract yet, but he read the screenplay and liked it. He is now out of the station due to work. He will finalise everything after coming back. He believes that this can be an ambitious project, though the director does not want to comment.
The film is supposed to be released in six Indian languages. Importance was put on pre-production and the screenplay was written with the help of folk tales and the archive of the East India Company. According to Tollywood sources, this is going to be the highest budget for a Bengali film.
Another important theme of the film was the Sannyasi Rebellion of that time, and hence action was of particular importance. Vicky Kaushal’s father Shyam Kaushal, who is an eminent action director of Bollywood, was contacted. Shyam was the action director of Bajirao Mastani. Shyam has agreed to work in the film.
The pre-production work will go on for around five months. The cast will be finalized, and look tests and workshops will be arranged during that time. The film is targeted to be released in 2024.
