It has already been reported that Uttam Kumar and Aparna Sen’s iconic 1972 film Mem Saheb will be remade this year. While it was speculated that Prosenjit Chatterjee might play the character of Uttam Kumar, it has now been confirmed that he will not work in the film.

According to his close associates, Prosenjit will be seen in Srijit Mukherji’s Puja release Dawshom Awbotaar and Subhrajit Mitra’s Debi Chowdhurani. Besides, Kaushik Ganguly is supposed to direct Prosenjit and Rituparna Sengupta’s 50th film together. However, while the announcement is made, that film is yet to be locked. On the other hand, He will be seen in a comedy film directed by Raja Chanda and opposite Puja Banerjee. Meanwhile, veteran director Anul Sengupta is all geared up to make a comeback with Mama Bhagne 2. It has been reported that Prosenjit may team up once again with Ranjit Mallick for the film. “He has no plan for Mem Saheb as of now. It is a false speculation,” confirmed his close associates.

Prosenjit is currently in Mumbai and is busy with meetings. His portrayal of Srikant Roy in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee has been praised by viewers and critics alike. He is also seen in Hansal Mehta’s Scoop. While Prosenjit plays the role of J. Dey (Jaideb Sen on-screen), Karishma Tanna is seen as the lead character, Jigna Vora (Jagruti Pathak on-screen). Scoop is inspired by Jigna Vora’s book, Byculla: My Time In Prison. The journalist was accused of murdering J. Dey and had to face prison on the charges. The show also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Deven Bhojani, and Ira Dubey in pivotal roles.
