Film producer Swapna Dutt is quite thrilled about her upcoming movie, which has been titled Project K. The film has some of the biggest Indian stars in its cast, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. She noted that as a producer she doesn't always aim to make big spectacle movies but to tell good stories. "It's a story that Nag wanted to tell. And it eventually became what it became. Not that we wanted to put the biggest film together," said Swapna.
Project K is the biggest venture in terms of budget, scale and scope for the production banner Vyjayanthi Movies, which has been in making movies for nearly 50 years now. "If Nag at the time wanted to make a small film and we had liked the story, we would have made that small film. But, he wanted to tell the story of Project K. And to tell a story like that we needed an actor like Prabhas," she said in an interview with YouTube channel PREMA the Journalist.
Swapna suggested that everything for the movie fell into place soon after Prabhas came on board the project as its lead star. Acting great Amitabh Bachchan signed the project before Deepika joined the cast. She said roping in such top talents will not be difficult if the script is good. "When the script is good, 70 per cent of the time the actors will come and do it. 30 per cent of the time, we want to make them see what we see," she explained.
Project K is the most ambitious film in director Nag Ashwin's career. Besides directing it, he has also written it. Billed as science fiction, project K is among the costliest movies produced in India. "Prabhas is like a great mountain. A tall human, a tall strength, a tall person for the industry. We are able to do this because someone like him is around. He's such a humble being that it shocks me," Swapna remarked.
The production of Project K is going on at full speed. Earlier this week, Amitabh Bachchan suffered an injury while shooting for Project K. He's now recovering at his home in Mumbai. And he will join soon after he makes a full recovery.
Project K is set to arrive in cinemas on January 14, 2024.
