The film, written and directed by Nag Ashwin, also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan
The leading names from the industry are already hailing Project K as the next big thing to arrive from Telugu cinema and the makers of the film, Vyjayanthi Movies, have taken every effort to ensure that no key information of the plot is leaked from the sets. Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani play the lead roles in the Nag Ashwin directorial set for a 2024 release.
After offering a few glimpses of Prabhas, Deepika and Amitabh Bachchan’s looks, the team unveiled a partial look of Disha Patani’s avatar from the sci-fi thriller commemorating her birthday. Disha’s expressive eyes with the use of the vertical bindi on her forehead and above her eyebrows has us speculating if the actress has been roped in to play a classical dancer in the same.
The several looks from the film clearly suggest that Project K is set in a different, possibly futuristic timeline. Veteran filmmaker Singeetham Srinivas Rao, who was the earliest to helm a mainstream sci-fi film Aditya 369 with the right commercial ingredients, is also helping the team finetune the script from time to time. Santosh Narayanan scores the music for the film.
While Project K is touted to release for Sankranthi 2024, several sources suggest the film is unlikely to arrive for the announced date and may opt for an early summer release instead. Djordje Stojiljkovic cranks the camera for the magnum opus and the veteran, Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, is the editor. Nag Ashwin, the director, had earlier helmed two hits - Yevade Subrahmanyam and Mahanati.
Prabhas, whose Adipurush releases in theatres this Friday, will have Salaar hitting the screens in September. Director Maruthi’s horror comedy with the star, produced by People Media Factory, will only release post Project K. Project K’s producers recently backed the summer entertainer, Anni Manchi Sakunamule, which failed to set the cash registers ringing.
