Producer Ajay Kapoor has officially bagged the rights to remake the 2018 Tamil Blockbuster movie 96 starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The remake will reportedly recreate the romantic and nostalgic magic woven by the original film. Further details such as the information on the cast and director of the movie will be released soon.
Talking about the announcement, producer Ajay Kapoor told ANI that 96 was a light hearted, warm romantic tale that received a lot of love from the viewers. The film was able to break down the barriers beyond the bounds of language and region which influenced him to do a remake of the flick in Hindi language for the national audience. According to the news agency, he is also invested in working on the right script for the narrative along with the director and discussing the cast. Once all of these are fixed, the information will be announced, he added.
96 was a blockbuster hit in 2018 when it hit the theatres. It emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes of the year, which does not come as a surprise because of the stellar casting and unique approach to a romantic theme. The film revolves around a photographer who meets his childhood sweetheart at his school reunion. The film bagged Filmfare awards for the two actors and Asianet Film Award for the most popular Tamil film in 2019.
