Madhabi Mukhopadhyay, famously known as Satyajit Ray’s Charulata, is still a craze among her audience. Her first short film Probaho has been digitally released which again proved her immense popularity. Director Promita Bhowmick’s second film was released on August 26 on YouTube. Both Promita and Madhabi were flooded with best wishes.

Promita penned the story, screenplay, and dialogue of the film. Supratim Bhol was the DOP and Sankha was the editor. The film, lasting for 14.14 minutes, portrays the pang of the epidemic. Mrinmayi, a 75-year-old woman, becomes lonely after losing her husband and son in Covid. She lost the will to live, but life teaches us to come back. Mrinmayi also starts loving herself. Madhabi Mukhopadhyay acted solo in the film.

In an interview with Aajkal Dot Net, Promita said that she was fortunate to be able to work with Madhabi Mukhopadhyay. She also disclosed that Madhabi is still finicky about acting. She discussed every scene with Promita.

Probaho has been awarded in several international film festivals. Promita was awarded the best director in the Boston Independent Film Awards. The Madras Independent Film Festival conferred the same award on her. Supratim Bhol was awarded the best cinematographer at the Amsterdam Short Film Festival.
