Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently seen in the documentary called WOMB (Women Of My Billion) which talks about women facing violence. The actress speaks about how the society perceives it and why it needs to change. She went on to accept some of her own flaws when it came to the topic and more importantly, was vocal about how the topic needs to be discussed at least now because it has been too long that women have been facing violence and staying shut about it (mostly owing to the situation they’re in).

A global problem but people are desensitized to it?

Priyanka agreed that the problem is a global one and shared, “We hear about stories of violence against women. There would be viral videos going around. It’s like we’re desensitized.” The actress further stated that before working in Womb, she realized that she was desensitized too.

How can the change happen?

The actress told Bollywood Hungama that it is important that the society’s perspective against women changes. “It happens with films that enable conversations,” she said, adding that the most important part is that these stories need to be reduced. “We’re in 2024, we have to be able to be louder about this conversation,” Priyanka was quoted saying.

Where would Priyanka draw a line?

Priyanka would personally draw a line at disrespect from the other person, if she ever were in a situation where violence was involved. She further says that those even facing disrespect, should not let it come to a point where they allow a slap.

“Taking for granted women’s ability to contribute is something we need to start thinking of,” the actress said. She then went on to tell the young women to recognize the strength of people around them to help them get out of the situation but it should not even come down to that in the first place.

WOMB will be out on Amazon Prime Video on May 3.
