Priyadarshan hopes 'things will work' as he talks about reuniting with Akshay Kumar after 14 years; opens up on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar will be reuniting for Bhooth Bangla. They will be coming together after 14 long years.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar announced his reunion with filmmaker Priyadarshan recently. On his 57th birthday, Khiladi Kumar dropped the first look poster of their upcoming film, Bhooth Bangla. In his post, he expressed his excitement about teaming up with Priyadarshan for 14 long years. Now, Priyadarshan has talked about his collaboration with Kumar at IIFA 2024.

While talking to PTI at the IIFA Awards 2024, the Chup Chup Ke director gave a big shout-out to his collaborations with Akshay Kumar. He said that every film that he had done with the actor has been a blockbuster, hence it's a big thing for him to work with him once again after fourteen years. He told the news agency, "Every film I have made with him has been a superhit. People say that you are the reason Akshay does comedy, but I don’t believe in all those things. What I did was exploit his sense of humour (on screen). We are working after 14 years, and I hope things will work. It’s a challenge. We can’t match the expectations of the audiences, but I’m trying my best."

Priyadarshan on Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise

The ace director also spoke about the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. He directed the first part and the second installment was helmed by Anees Bazmee. While talking about director Anees Bazmee’s taking over the legendary horror-comedy franchise, Priyadarshan said that Bazmee will rock again with the third installment. “Anees Bazmee did a good job with the second part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. I think he will do the third part also well”, the 67-year-old filmmaker stated in the same interview.

For the unversed, Priyadarshan and Akshay have worked in films like Hera Pheri (2000), Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), De Dana Dan (2009), and Khatta Meetha (2010), and all of them performed well at the box office.

Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar's upcoming film—Bhooth Bangla will be bringing the OG horror-comedy gang like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani back. For now, Bhooth Bangla is slated to release in 2025.
