Even as Brahmastra’s first song Kesariya continues to be the fodder for memes and trolls due for using the words ‘love storiyaan’ in its lyrics, there’s no stopping the popularity of the track. Recently, ‘wink’ sensation and Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier took to her social media page to share a video of her singing the track from the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer.
The actress rendered a beautiful version of the song in the video captioned “Ishq hai piyaaa…”, complete with the lyrics including the ‘love storiyaan’. The post also received about 120k likes within 19 hours, with many praising the actress’ voice.
The comments came from people across languages – Malayalam and Hindi. One user commented that her voice is as beautiful as she is, while another said she should also try her hand at playback singing.
The actress’ latest project is Kolla, which is directed by Suraj Varma and scripted by Jasim Jalal and Nelson Joseph. The film’s story is by National Award-winning writers Bobby and Sanjay. The movie, which went on floors in May, has Rajisha Vijayan and Priya in the lead roles with Vinay Forrt, Shebin Benson and Prashanth Alexander essaying supporting characters.
Priya had also completed shooting for Sridevi Bungalow, her debut Bollywood venture, as well her second Hindi film Love Hackers, a crime thriller that is based on true events that had transpired during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt recently reacted to the criticism against the track Kesariya for using the line ‘love storiyaan’ that many felt didn’t fit in. The actress said that when the song is on top of the charts, why would she ever complain. Alia is set for the release of her Netflix film Darlings, which also has Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. The dark comedy is set to drop on the platform on August 5.
