Prithviraj Sukumaran is going through a great phase in his career with some highly exciting projects in Malayalam cinema, Telugu, and Bollywood. The actor-filmmaker, who is now gearing up for the massive release of Salaar, is also busy with the making of his third directorial venture L2 Empuraan. Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Prithviraj Sukumaran extensively spoke about balancing his career in Malayalam cinema and other languages. The multi-faceted star also revealed why he will always consider Malayalam cinema his home industry.

Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals why he focuses on Malayalam cinema

According to the actor-filmmaker, Malayalam cinema will always be his home industry, and he has no plans to change that. In his recent interview with Film Companion South, Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that he knows he is a Malayalam actor primarily and considers the industry his home ground forever. “For me, Malayalam cinema is what I do, and everything else is once in a while,” stated the Salaar actor.

Prithviraj Sukumaran added that it will have to be a really good script that excites him as an actor, to do that ‘once in a while’ other language films. The talented actor revealed that he is looking for projects that provide an opportunity that he might not be getting every day, as far as the other languages including Hindi and Tamil are concerned. That is the reason why his other language filmography consists of such drastically different films.

The Jana Gana Mana actor pointed out that Kaaviya Thalaivan was his last Tamil film, which released in 2014. Despite winning the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for his performance in the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran refrained from signing more Tamil films as he did not receive an offer that excited him as an actor. However, the actor-filmmaker admitted that he had received many offers from all other languages over the years, just like most of his contemporaries.

Prithviraj’s work front

The talented actor is playing the role of Varadharaja Mannar, the future king of Khansaar in Salaar, which stars Prabhas in the lead role. Prithviraj Sukumaran will also reprise the role in the upcoming second part of the much-awaited project. When it comes to Malayalam cinema, the multi-faceted talent is set to release his ambitious project Aadujeevitham on April 10, 2024.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the Bollywood project of Prithviraj Sukumaran which features him as the lead antagonist, is also slated to release on the same day. The actor-director is currently busy directing the upcoming Mohanlal-starrer L2 Empuraan, which is slated to hit the screens in 2025. Vilayath Buddha and Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil are his other Malayalam projects.
