The director talked about the film after sharing the first look poster of the movie on his social media page on Monday
Director Alphonse Puthren revealed the first look poster his upcoming movie Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead, on Monday. This immediately kicked off a discussion on his social media page, with people drawing comparisons with his debut film Neram as well as his previous superhit Premam.
With poster of both the movies being similar, Alphonse wrote that people should go to watch Gold in theatres expecting it to be Neram or Premam. “Gold might be similar to Neram, but it is unique in its own way,” he posted. “There are more than 40 characters in Gold. We all will try to entertain you.”
Further, the director clarified that Neram and Gold are not set in the same universe. All the characters in Gold are newly-written and it’s “nothing related to Neram or Premam,” said Alphonse, while emphasising that the movie is simple. “It is my film,” he wrote, adding that the film is similar to Neram only in its narrative style.
The film, which has Prithviraj and Nayanthara in the lead, had completed shooting last year. Apart from scripting, directing and editing the movie, Alphonse is also in charge of its animation, VFX, colour grading and stunt choreography. The cinematographers of Gold are Anend C Chandran and Viswajith Odukkathil, who had cranked the camera for Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam and Pranav Mohanlal’s Hridayam, respectively.
Gold, which is co-produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, is expected to hit theatres after Kaduva releases on June 30. The film, which will mark Alphonse’s first project since Premam in 2015, has a stellar cast including Lalu Alex, Krishna Sankar, Shabareesh Varma, Roshan Mathew, Deepti Sati, Jagadeesh, Baburaj, Vinay Forrt, Chemban Vinod Jose, Ajmal Ameer, Shanti Krishna and Jaffer Idukki. Several other stars are also expected to be seen in cameo roles in the film, which is touted to be an entertainer.
