The movie, which also has Baburaj, Vinay Forrt, Ajmal Amir, Shabareesh Varma and Mallika Sukumaran, will mark Alphonse’s first release in seven years
Premam director Alphonse Puthren is finally ready with his first release in over seven years. The director took to his social media page on Tuesday to announce that the teaser of his upcoming movie Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead, will be unveiled at 6pm on March 22.
In a social media post, the filmmaker said that after “a small interval of seven years, I am coming with a film”. He revealed that the film’s teaser will be out on the YouTube channel of its co-producers, Magic Frames, and that it will be screened in theatres across Kerala from March 25. Considering that it’s also the release date of the hugely-awaited SS Rajamouli movie RRR, it would only serve to increase the hype of the movie.
With the teaser set to be screened in theatres, it would also mean that the movie is set for a big screen release. This would mark Prithviraj’s second theatrical release since the pandemic. His first would be Dijo Jose Antony’s upcoming socio-political thriller Jana Gana Mana, which is set to hit theatres on April 28.
On Gold, the film’s cast member Ajmal Amir had revealed that it’s a full-on fun movie with interesting characters and situational comedy. Alphonse too had posted on his social media page that the movie is different from his previous ventures – Premam and Neram – and urged people not to come to theatres expecting a similar film. “It’s a different film with a few good characters, a few stars and 2-3 songs,” he wrote.
Prithviraj, meanwhile, has a host of upcoming releases including Shaji Kailas’ ‘mass’ action-entertainer Kaduva, which is scripted by Jinu Abraham. He will first complete the remaining portions of Blessy’s Aadujeevitham, before taking up any more projects this year. He also has Kappa, Salaar and a web series on Biscuit Baron Rajan Pillai lined up.
