Synopsis: Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar starrer is the latest historical movie to brew conspiracy.
The movie Prithviraj has found itself in a new conspiracy prior to its release again. This time the conspiracy routes to the Gurjar community.
A Gurjar organisation on Friday extended their proposal that the 12th-century warrior ruler Prithviraj Chauhan be portrayed as a Gurjar and not a Rajput in a forthcoming movie featuring Akshay Kumar. The movie, helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films, will be released next month. Sanjay Dutt, Manushi Chhillar, and Manav Vij also feature in the historical drama.
The Akhil Bharatiya Veer Gurjar Mahasabha declared in a press conference according to a NewsNine article that the facts mentioned in the classics prove that Prithviraj Chauhan was a Gurjar ruler. According to Mahasabha Acharya Virendra Vikram, Prithviraj Chauhan's father Someshwar is mentioned as a Gurjar in Prithviraj Raso Part 1. Multiple significant historical data strongly suggest that he was a Gurjar. Bearing this in mind, they have requested that the movie's creators portray Prithviraj as a Gurjar ruler rather than a Rajput.
Manish Bhargad, the Mahasabha's state president, claimed his organisation spoke with the movie producer last year and delivered him historical data on the subject, as well as a proposal that he convey factual information in his movie. He stated, "Last year, the film producer told the Mahasabha that the film would have no anti-community content. As the movie wraps up, we reaffirm our proposal that Prithviraj be depicted as a Gurjar ruler.” Rajput leaders had no immediate response to the situation.
This is not the first time Dwivedi’s movie has been mired in conspiracy. Previously the Karni Sena had objected to the movie’s title. However Director Chandrapraskash Dwivedi mentioned in the trailer launch that they had no intentions of tarnishing the memories of the legendary ruler.
Prithviraj is inspired by the Braj Bhasha epic poem Prithviraj Raso written by Chand Barai, which tells the story of Prithviraj Chauhan's reign. The 1200s warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan aka Prithviraj III ruled from Sthanvishvara (Thanesar) in the north to Mewar in the south, with Rajasthan's present-day Ajmer as his capital.
A new song teaser of the film was dropped today which is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The song focuses on Manushi Chhillar’s character of Sanyogita.
The movie is set to be released on June 3 after many delays owing to the coronavirus outbreak. The movie will also premiere in Tamil and Telugu. Sakshi Tanwar, Ashutosh, and Lalit Tiwari also play important roles, according to a HindustanTimes article.
