The producers are keeping OTT release date details of Premalu under wraps, considering the potential impact on the film's impressive box office performance.
A still from Premalu
In light of the massive box office success of Premalu , the producers have managed to secure a lucrative post-release for the movie. Reports suggest that while the film's satellite rights were acquired by Asianet, the streaming rights have been purchased by Disney+Hotstar.
Disney+Hotstar has been very aggressive in expanding its Malayalam offerings. It has become the home of some of the recent critical hits from Malayalam cinema, including Mohanlal's Neru and Mammootty's Kannur Squad.

As per the prevailing industry trends, all new Malayalam movies make their OTT debuts after completing about four weeks of theatrical run. However, there were some exceptions to this trend. For example, Mammootty's Kannur Squad and Kaathal: The Core defied this trend and remained exclusively available in cinemas for over seven weeks before arriving on streaming.
Such exceptions are becoming rare, especially in the South Indian film industry. It remains to be seen whether Premalu will follow the trend and make its streaming debut in early March or adhere to a more extended theatrical window.
At this moment, we have no clarity on the OTT release date of Premalu. The producers are keeping streaming details under wraps, considering the potential impact on the film's impressive box office performance.
Premalu has exceeded all expectations in terms of box office collection and has emerged as the first biggest hit of Malayalam cinema in 2024. Made on a modest budget of less than Rs 5 crore, the film has grossed over Rs 70 crore worldwide within two weeks of its release.

While Kerala remains the film's major market, it has also performed very well in urban areas in other parts of the South Indian states and has gained traction in some international territories.
To capitalize on the film's popularity, Premalu is also being dubbed in other languages, with the Telugu version set to hit screens next week.
