Prema Vimanam on OTT: When Sangeeth Shoban didn't relate to his village boy character Mani

Santosh Kata directed the ZEE5 release also starring Saanve Megghana, Anasuya Bharadwaj and others

Prema Vimanam, the feel-good rural drama starring Sangeeth Shobhan, Saanve Megghana, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Anirudh Nama, Devansh Nama in key roles, released directly on ZEE5 on October 13. Debutant Santosh Kata directed the film produced by Abhishek Nama under Abhishek Pictures, the makers behind films like Devil, Ravanasura. The film has already amassed 80 million streaming minutes on the streamer.

In a chat, Sangeeth Shobhan opened up on playing the happy-go-lucky rural youngster Mani in the film and why he didn't relate to him at all. "I absolutely don't relate to him on a personal level because my character is a village boy in the year 1990s, and by then, he's already 24. So, his lifestyle is completely different from mine," the budding actor, who was also seen in the campus comedy MAD, shared.

Sangeeth opined that the technological development, the lifestyle are very different between the times he grew up amidst and the 90s. "Nothing attracted me to the character. The story itself felt like, oh, this is such a nice story, something that, if someone wants to tell, I'd be grateful to be a part of it. So, it didn't take much for me to convince myself to play the role," he admitted. Prema Vimanam also featured Abhai Naveen, Surabhi Prabhavathi, Ravi Varma and Goparaju Ramana.

The actor, brother to Santosh Soban, made his OTT debut with Netflix anthology Pitta Kathalu and received rave reviews for his performances in The Baker and The Beauty on aha and Oka Chinna Family Story on ZEE5. He was also seen as a child artiste in Mohana Krishna Indraganti’s Golconda High School, which also starred his brother. He is the son of late filmmaker Shobhan and the nephew of late comedian Lakshmipathi. His feature film MAD released on Netflix earlier today.
