Prema Vimanam

Prema Vimanam, the direct-to-OTT web film, starring Sangeeth Shobhan, Saanve Megghana, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Anirudh Nama and Devansh Nama, is directed by Santosh Kata. The film, which has opened to glowing reviews, skipped its theatrical release and arrived directly on ZEE5 earlier this weekend. Abhishek Nama produced the film under Abhishek Pictures.

In case, you haven’t caught it yet, here are five reasons why you must:

Heartwarming premise

Prema Vimanam is a beautiful story with two subplots revolving around characters fighting for their dreams. While two kids try to rise above their poor economic condition to board an aeroplane, two other teenagers - Mani and Abitha - dream of a future together despite their social barriers. Will they fulfil their dreams? Gear up for a rollercoaster ride of emotions!

Mature writing

While the intention of the story is quite simple, first-time director Santosh Kata displays immense maturity in its execution. Within a predictable premise, there are several surprises in store for the viewer. By telling the story with the help of a novel and creating a good emotional foundation for it, the narrative is surprisingly layered, backed by quirky situations.

Impressive performances

Though the film is essentially about two kids and their love for aeroplanes, the narrative is largely shouldered by two sparkling performances from upcoming artists - Sangeeth Shobhan and Saanve Megghana - who even make even ordinary situations look more beautiful. Anasuya Bharadwaj, Vennela Kishore, Ravi Varma, Goparaju Ramana, Surabhi Prabhavathi make a mark while they last.

Depiction of relationships

Prema Vimanam ultimately strikes a chord because of the depth in the interpersonal relationships. The relationships between the siblings and their single parent, and the warmth in the romance between Mani and Abitha make you invest in the highs and lows of their journeys and you root for them to succeed.

The magical touch of destiny

In both the subplots of Prema Vimanam, destiny has a role to play in their victory and the director integrates that element into the story skilfully. The kids ultimately realise the mistakes they’ve made and their dream comes true with the help of a surprise lottery win. While Abitha’s father is against his daughter’s marriage, the death of a girl in a neighbourhood reminds him of his priorities.
