Santosh Soban, who’s had multiple releases this year - Sridevi Sobhan Babu and Anni Manchi Sakunamule - is back in action with another romantic comedy titled Prem Kumar. Rashi Singh plays the female lead in the film that also stars Krishna Chaitanya, Ruchitha Sadineni, Krishna Teja, Sudarshan, Ashok Kumar, Sri Vidya. Popular actor Abhishek Maharshi turns a director with the project.
After staying in the news for its unique promotional strategy recently, the film’s trailer was launched today. The story revolves around Prem Kumar a.k.a PK, who specialises in breaking marriages. He’s unlucky with women and they find ridiculous reasons to reject his proposals. Convinced by his ‘failure rate’, Prem Kumar starts a post/pre wedding detective agency.
For a change, he wishes to make a marriage happen. Just when he has a change of heart, his bad luck continues to haunt him again and all hell breaks loose. His destiny is intertwined with a ‘rising star’ and another girl. How does the protagonist break free from this mess? The story takes new twists and turns with many characters contributing to the confusion.
Abhishek Maharshi and Anirudh Krishnamurthy have jointly written the story. Shiva Prasad Panneeru is bankrolling the film under Sharanga Entertainments. Rampy Nandigam cranks the camera for the entertainer which has music by S Anant Srikar. Garry BH and Krishnan Sujeeth are the editor and costume designer respectively.
Prem Kumar hits screens after the Independence Day weekend on August 18. The youth-centric film is certainly making a mark with its promos and the quirky premise. Santosh Sobhan is in real need of a commercial success to rejuvenate his career. Will Prem Kumar mark the beginning of his resurgent phase? We’ll know soon.
