Pravinkoodu Shappu
The trailer of Pravinkoodu Shappu, starring Basil Joseph and Soubin Shahir, is out! The upcoming Malayalam movie is written and directed by Sreeraj Sreenivasan in his directorial debut. The trailer hints that the film revolves around a death at Pravinkoodu Shappu with a cop tasked with finding the truth.
The Pravinkoodu Shappu trailer begins with Basil Joseph’s character, the cop, investigating a death at a toddy shop. He seems to be recreating the incidents at the toddy shop (Shappu) when 11 people sat around drinking and playing cards. The trailer further shows Basil drawing inferences and dismissing the possibility of someone else entering the place.
Amid this Cheman Vinod’s character boldly claims that Babu would not commit suicide and that it is a case of murder. The trailer introduces more oddball characters, who come up with their own quirky remarks as the cop further delves into the case.
Soubin Shahir seems to be playing yet another quirky middle-aged man, who is married to a rather pretty woman. He comes up with witty remarks and subtle quips aimed at the cop.
While pointing out that the crime was committed in full public view, Basil concludes it is a challenge by a narcissist who wants to prove that he can commit such a complicated murder and still get away with it. We also get some action sequences as the trailer heads to a pulsating finish.
Overall, the trailer promises an oddball comedy revolving around the police investigation of Babu’s death.
The film, produced by Anwar Rasheed, has music by Vishnu Vijay. Shyju Khalid is the DOP, while Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor. Pravinkoodu Shappu is set to release in theaters worldwide on January 16, 2025.
