Dismissal of discharge plea
According to reports, while hearing the plea, the court dismissed Rahul’s plea and said that the physical, emotional and financial harassment and exploitation led to Pratyusha’s depression. The court also said that since Rahul did not make any effort to change her condition it implicates him in abetting her suicide.
Speaking to Aaj Tak following the hearing, Pratyusha’s father, Shankar, said, "Now everything will come out one by one and in front of everyone. The court does not belong to anyone. The truth will come out.”
Hardships faced by Pratyusha’s family
Shankar also spoke about the hardships that his family had to face to bring the trial this far. He said, “Only my wife and I know what we have faced in these eight years. Justice for our daughter has become the only aim of our life. We were made villains. Fake media trial was conducted, and things were twisted so much that we were made to look like the villains. We lost our confidence due to this. Our hopes were also shattered.”
However, the rejection of the discharge plea has given him hope for justice. Speaking about his financial constraints, Shankar added, “All my money has gone into this case. I can’t take the risk of breaking up and losing. Now, I just want us to get justice.”
