It seems like Mohanlal’s Spadikam has proved that there is still a theatrical audience for old movies. After over a year of its initial release, Pranav Mohanlal’s superhit coming-of-age romance will hit theatres in select cities during Valentine's week.

Vineeth Sreenivasan shared a poster, saying that “Hridayam back in theatres”, on his social media page. Reservation for the movie began from Friday onwards. The film will be screened in theatres in Kochi, Chennai, Coimbatore and Bengaluru. The poster also highlighted the theatres where the film will be playing.

Apart from Pranav, the movie also has Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran in lead roles. Hridayam released on January 21, 2021 and went on to gross over Rs 50 crore from Kerala theatres, where it had played at 50% occupancy due to the pandemic restrictions.

Hridayam also won last year’s Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director and Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. The filmmaker, in a recent interview with OTTplay, told us that they had expected an award for composer Hesham Abdul Wahab but never one for the film.

“There weren’t as many movies for which people had invested so much time and effort for the music. Also, Hridayam had a lot of songs belonging to different genres, and so we knew his name was definitely worth consideration. Even though I never expected an award for Best Film with Popular Appeal, our producer Visakh (Subramaniam) would say that there was a chance we would get it,” he said.

The film’s Hindi, Tamil and Telugu rights were also bagged soon after its release by Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios. “It’s something that we never even thought about. So, getting to talk to him (Karan) three to four months ago over the phone and listening to his feedback – all of that still has me in a state of disbelief,” Vineeth told us.
