Now that three consecutive films of Prabhas - Saaho, Radhe Shyam, have failed at the box office after Baahubali 2, there are huge expectations from the fans of the Mirchi star on his upcoming films. While the star’s next release, Salaar, is an action entertainer, his sci-fi saga Project K will be out in 2024. With Salaar’s teaser meeting with mixed responses, fans pinned their hopes on Project K.
Ahead of Project K team’s presence at Comic Con, USA, the first looks of Deepika Padukone and Prabhas were launched this weekend. Prabhas first look, in particular, has drawn extreme reactions from film buffs. Social media is full of memes trolling the team for their lacklustre, unoriginal effort behind the look. Many fans have expressed their reactions through memes on Twitter.
The first glimpse and the title of the film will be unveiled on July 21. Nag Ashwin is directing the thriller that also stars Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani and is bankrolled by Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies. Santhosh Narayanan is the music director for the same and veteran Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor.
Kamal Haasan came on board recently and will be playing an antagonist in the film, reportedly charging around Rs 30-40 crore for his appearance. While Amitabh Bachchan has already acted in a Telugu film before - Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy - this is the debut project for Deepika and Disha Patani in the industry. Saswata Chatterjee is essaying another key role in the film.
Project K makers have produced multiple hits in Telugu recently - Mail, Jathi Ratnalu, Sita Ramam, Mahanati, Maharshi to name a few. Their last release was Anni Manchi Sakunamule, starring Santosh Soban, Malavika Nair, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. With the Prabhas film, they enter their 50th year of filmdom, while they began their film production stint with O Seetha Katha.
