Fans have been expressing happiness after Byeon Woo-seok and IU are confirmed to star opposite each other in an upcoming romance K-drama. The Lovely Runner fame will be seen in the lead role and he will romance the K-pop star. The report also mentioned that the upcoming MBC drama is tentatively titled Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
Byeon Woo-seok and IU in new K-drama
As per Kakao Entertainment's December 2 announcement, Byeon Woo-seok will be romancing K-pop idol IU in the upcoming MBC drama, Wife of a 21st Century Prince. The romance drama is set in an alternate version of Korea which is a constitutional monarchy. The drama will tell the love story of Sung Hee Joo (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Lee Ahn (Byeon Woo-seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

IU as Sung Hee Joo is the second daughter of the family. They family owns the biggest conglomerate in Korea. The beautiful and fierce Sung Hee Joo has always enjoyed every advantage—but when her ordinary condition unexpectedly becomes an obstacle to her perfect life, she becomes involved with Prince Lee Ahn.
On the other hand, Byeon Woo-seok as Lee Ahn is a prince who has nothing but his royal status. He is the king’s second son. After hiding his identity all his life, Lee Ahn begins a big change in his life when he meets Sung Hee Joo.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince's expected release date
As per the report, Wife of a 21st Century Prince is currently scheduled to be released in the second half of 2025.
Meanwhile, the Lovely Runner actor recently made headlines with his charming cameo in tvN series No Gain No Love, starring Shin Min A and Kim Young Dae. On the other hand, IU had her first world tour – the HEREH World Tour, this year. She has done several K-dramas such as Dream High, You Are The Best, Bel Ami, and more.
