Last year, Sarath Kumar had taken to his Twitter page to express excitement about his blockbuster film Surya Vamsam celebrating its 25th anniversary. He wrote, "It is such a nostalgic moment to recollect the days working in the super hit movie Surya Vamsam produced by RB Choudary and directed by Vikraman."
A few weeks ago, the senior actor spoke about the possibility of making a sequel to the film directed by Vikraman and released in 1997. Produced by veteran producer RB Choudary, the movie went on to become one of the all-time highest grossers and shattered many box office records.
On the occasion of the family drama celebrating its 26th year today, Sarath has officially hinted at a sequel to the film. This has left some of the cinephiles elated while there are those who opine that cult movies like Surya Vamsam should be left as it is

The actor is on a success spree this year as Varisu, Ponniyin Selvan 2, and Por Thozil in which he played pivotal roles went on to be huge hits at the box office. He was seen essaying key characters in Rudhran and Custody as well in 2023. Sarath has a few movies in his kitty, including The Smile Man and Samaran which have him playing lead roles.
Surya Vamsam had Devayani, Raadika Sarathkumar, Priya Raman, Manivannan, Anandaraj, and Nizhalgal Ravi among others playing important characters in it. SA Rajkumar's music, engaging screenplay, and relatable emotions were highlights of the film which registered huge footfalls across Tamil Nadu.
Fans are wondering how a second part of the movie would be made now. However, they are eagerly waiting for the next update from the star.
