Poor Things had dropped two trailers, and they offer a decent view of the eccentric, insightful sci-fi dramedy. The film follows the coming-of-age and self-discovery of Bella Baxter, the child-like adult ward of the brilliant and mad scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. After a young woman named Victoria committed suicide with her unborn child to escape her abusive husband, her infant’s brain is put in her body, and she is resurrected by the good ol’ mad doctor.
The result is the innocent and baby-like Bella, with no sense of right or wrong. While she learns to walk and talk like a normal adult, her guardian approves of Max McCandles, his apprentice's request, for her hand in marriage. But Bella is having none of it and she elopes with the lusty and debauched Duncan, a lawyer.

As Bella travels the continents with Duncan and explores an alternate Victorian-futuristic society, she is exploited, used, taught, and surprised by everything around her, till she learns enough about the world and herself to be independent. A poignant comedy that is as odd as it is contemplative, the film takes a realistic and commentative view of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Poor Things has a starry cast, featuring the likes of Emma Stone as Bella Baxter, Mark Ruffalo as Duncan Wedderburn, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Godwin Baxter, Ramy Youssef as Max McCandles. The film also stars Christopher Abbott, Kathryn Hunter, Jerrod Carmichael, Hanna Schygulla, and Margaret Qualley in prominent roles.
