Pine also stars in the film.
Chris Pine’s directorial debut, Poolman, has added two big names to its already stellar cast list. It was announced that Academy Award nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh and West Side Story star Ariana DeBose will come on board the film.
According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film will also star Pine, along with Annette Bening and Danny DeVito. Although the plot of the film is being kept under close wraps, reports state that Poolman will serve as a tribute to the city of Los Angeles. It is also said to feature nods to some iconic Hollywood set in the city, such as Chinatown, The Long Goodbye,The Big Lebowski and La La Land.
DeBose was last seen in the musical drama West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg. The film, which also stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler, had won DeBose an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress this year. West Side Story had been nominated in seven categories at this year’s Oscars, including Best Picture. The film can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
DeBose, who currently stars in Westworld, will also be seen in the Matthew Vaughn directorial Argylle and J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter. While Argylle also features Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill and Sam Rockwell, the latter will see DeBose share the screen with Russell Crowe and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Leigh, popular for her roles in Atypical and The Hateful Eight, had been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the latter. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film also features Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Demián Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern in pivotal roles. The Hateful Eight can be streamed on Lionsgate Play.
