If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Trisha is likely to play one of the leading ladies in Thalapathy67. Though there has been no official confirmation on the same yet, the buzz is only getting stronger by the day. The film will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is currently basking in the success of Kamal Haasan's Vikram. Thalapathy67 will mark Lokesh Kanagaraj's second collaboration with Vijay after their hit film, Master.

Vijay and Trisha have worked in a number of films earlier, including Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi. The duo is one of the most loved onscreen couple. If they indeed come together for the film, this will mark their return after a gap of over a decade. Lokesh Kanagaraj has currently taken a break from social media and when he returns, he is expected to make a big announcement about the film. We hear that the team is likely to approach Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja and Prithviraj for the film.

Trisha, in the meantime, is awaiting the release of her magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name, has an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi. Ponniyin Selvan is all set to release on September 30 worldwide in five languages. She is also part of The Road, directed by Arun Vaseegaran, and the shoot for the film is on in full swing.

In the meantime, there was a recent buzz on social media that Trisha is likely to take the plunge into politics and that she is about to join a national party. However, Trisha's mother, Uma Krishnan, has dismissed the same as rumours and stated that Trisha's focus was only on films. Meanwhile, Trisha's latest Instagram story had left many of her fans guessing. The actress had written, "It's so nice when toxic people stop talking to you. It’s like the trash took itself out (sic)." Fans have been wondering what the actress is talking about.
