Team Ponniyin Selvan began promoting the movie in an extensive manner with media interactions in Chennai a couple of days ago. Some of the actors and Mani Ratnam will be participating in the pre-release promotional activities in other states from today, starting from Trivandrum.

The crew will be flying to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi in the coming days. Vikram, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi are expected to be part of all the events. Movie buffs are eager to know if Aishwarya Rai, who plays Queen Nandini in the film, would join the team during the promotion in Mumbai.

During one of the media interactions, Trisha was asked if she could confirm her presence in Lokesh Kanagaraj's much-awaited movie Thalapathy 67. The speculation of her playing the female lead in the Vijay-starrer has been doing the rounds for some time.

However, Trisha said that she has strict orders not to talk about other projects during the promotion of Ponniyin Selvan. Fans of Vijay and other cinephiles infer from this statement of the actress that she is indeed a part of the project as she didn't quash her inclusion as a rumour.

Vijay and Trisha acted together in four films; their last outing was Kuruvi, directed by Dharani, which was released in 2008. Ghilli, helmed by the same filmmaker, was the first movie which brought the actors together on screen for the first time. The sensational success of the movie made Vijay and Trisha the hot pair in Kollywood in no time.

Thalapathy 67 is billed as a gangster flick and Vijay is said to be essaying the role of a middle-aged gangster in it. The story of the untitled film is said to happen in Mumbai.
