The actor took to social media to post a hearty tweet about their characters, confirming their roles in the historical action-drama,
The shooting for the magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is going on in full swing since day 1 of the filming. where Karthi has been working with the movie’s team for two years. Earlier, news regarding the entire cast’s characters in the movie was leaked that mentioned Karthi and Jayam Ravi are portraying the roles of Vandhiyathevan and Arulmozhi Varman respectively. And now his recent tweet confirms the same. Karthi will be seen playing the role of the Chola empire’s chieftain.
Jayam Ravi took to social media the previous day to announce wrapping up his portion for Mani Ratnam’s epic period drama with an inspiring quote. He also expressed his gratitude to the director and shared the experience he had on the sets of the movie. He ended his tweet by writing, “Yours forever, PS” that confirms that he is playing the character of Arulmozhi Varman, who’s also called Ponniyin Selvan.
Funnily replying to his tweet, Karthi mentioned their characters’ are yet to complete their work for the Chola dynasty and that he cannot bid goodbye. He addressed the actor as Ilavarase (Prince), further confirming his character.
He also mentioned completing work in north India in six days. This could imply their shooting process that is currently taking place in Madhya Pradesh.
The film will also star Vikram who will be playing Vandhiyathevan, a trusted aide and a friend of Adithya Karikalan.

Ponniyin Selvan is an epic period novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The story is set during the time of the Chola empire's reign and sheds light on the lives of its kings and queens. The first part of the upcoming magnum opus is scheduled to have a theatrical release next year.
