Film buffs were in for a surprise to see the team unveiling its posters
Ponniyin Selvan
Kollywood movie lovers were in for a treat when Lyca Productions, which is producing the big budget magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan along with Madras Talkies, unveiled the first look posters of its leading actors. They also announced that the movie will hit the screens on September 30.
The project directed by Mani Ratnam has been in the making for quite sometime and fans can't wait to watch the epic drama, starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi, unfold on big screens. Film buffs took to Twitter to express their happiness over the first look posters.
However, there are many who felt the posters are of below par quality and that they can't digest the makers of a big budget project coming up with such unimpressive works.
Among all, Karthi's poster received unanimous positive response from cinephiles. They also hope that the versatile actor will do justice to the character Vandhiyadevan.
Unfortunately, it is Vikram's poster which received backlash on social media. Many felt that the poster is nothing, but a fan-made one and lacks originality.
The posters of Aishwarya Rai, Trisha and Jayam Ravi evoked mixed reactions from Twitterati. While a few opined that the actors are aptly casted for the characters created by Kalki in the novel of the same name, some others felt their posters could have been more appealing.
It is expected that the second part of the film, which features an ensemble cast, will hit the screens in 2023. Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Rahman are others who play significant roles in the movie.
