The filmmaker is busy with the post-production works of Ponniyin Selvan 2
Ra Karthik, Mani Ratnam and Ashok Selvan
It is known that Mani Ratnam is on a high after delivering the biggest blockbuster of his career, Ponniyin Selvan, which is also the highest grosser in Tamil Nadu. The legendary filmmaker is busy with the post-production works of the movie's sequel which is expected to hit the screens as a summer release in 2023.
A week ago, the director was in the news when there was an official announcement on him joining hands with Kamal Haasan for a project after more than three decades. The unexpected news made cinephiles ecstatic and emotional, and they took to social media to express their excitement.
The filmmaker is now in the news again for having appreciated a film crew after being impressed with it. Debutant Ra Karthik's Nitham Oru Vaanam, which was released earlier this month, appealed to Mani, and the latter invited the former and the movie's protagonist Ashok Selvan to his office.
Both the actor-filmmaker duo are excited over receiving appreciation from the master filmmaker. Ashok took to his Twitter page to post, "Mani Ratnam Sir! Thank you for giving us your time and appreciating our team. Truly means a lot (sic)." Karthik, on the other hand, wrote on his social media page, "Beautiful evening with my Master, God Father Mr.Mani Rathnam. Love you sir. Thanks for your valuable time to meet us (sic)."
Both of them also posted pics of them posing with Mani on their Twitter pages. Nitham Oru Vaanam opened to decent response from critics and film lovers. Ritu Varma, Aparna Balamurali and Shivathmika Rajashekar play female leads in the movie.
The digital rights of the movie have been bagged by Netflix, and its OTT premiere is likely to happen during mid-December.
