The single, Aga Naga, is an ode to the romance between the Chola spy and Army commander Vanthiyathevan Vallavarayan and the Chola Princess Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, played by Karthi and Trisha respectively. The single was released in four other languages as well- Aka Malar (Malayalam), Kirunage (Kannada), Aaganandhe (Telugu) and Rua Ruaan (Hindi). Taking to the social media handle, the makers wrote, "The song that left you wanting more is out now! Listen now to #AgaNaga #RuaaRuaa #Aaganandhe #Akamalar & #Kirunage (sic)." The glimpse had a few lines from all the languages.

Interestingly, Aga Naga played in the background during the meetings between Vanthiyathevan and Kundavai in the first instalment of the franchise and it was quite a hit among the audiecne. So, when the makers announced that Aga Naga is now a full-fledged single, fans of the song were indeed on cloud nine. The poster featuring Karthi and Trisha, too, won the hearts of many and many called it the best poster from the entire Ponniyin Selvan franchise.

Karthi initiated the conversation by dropping a hello to the Ilaiya Piratti. Posing as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, Karthi asked if he could meet Kundavai and asked that he had completed the task assigned to him. He said that he needed a song that would vibe with the moment when he return to Pazhaiyaru. To which Trisha said that the song would be ready by 6pm.
Ponniyin Selvan, starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha in the lead, is gearing up to hit screens on April 28.
