Moreover, the team decided to do away with the special morning shows in Tamil Nadu. So, the trade was expecting less figures on day one at least in Tamil Nadu. According to sources, PS 2 is said to have grossed around 60 crores from across the globe.
The day one collection in Tamil Nadu is estimated at around 15 crores. Cinephiles opine that had the special morning shows happened, the film would have raked almost 20 crores in the state. It now stands at third position among the highest grossers in Tamil Nadu this year, after Thunivu and Varisu.
It has comfortably surpassed Silambarasan's Pathu Thala and Dhanush's Vaathi which were released earlier in the state in 2023. The Mani Ratnam directorial has performed exceptionally in Kerala as well. It doesn't come as a surprise as the first part was a money spinner in the neighbouring state.
The movie has grossed more than 2 crores in Kerala and is said to be the biggest opening in the state in 2023 after Vijay's Varisu. PS 2, which had a huge release in the US, collected 13 crores in the country. The UK is another territory where the period drama has performed well.
