Ponniyin Selvan 2: Chiyaan Vikram opens up on the similarity he shares with his character Aditha Karikalan

He received a rousing response when he made a thunderous entrance at the event

The much-awaited audio and trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan 2 left movie buffs enthralled, thanks to the presence of a few stalwarts from Kollywood at the event. After waiting patiently for a couple of hours, the stars of the much-awaited sequel made dashing entries.

The first among the actors to have arrived at the venue was Aishwarya Rai. Cinephiles couldn't control the excitement when they saw the former Miss World waving hands at them. The last among them to make an entry was Vikram, who left his admirers spellbound with his stylish appearance.

The Cobra star wasn't keeping well, but managed to attend the event attired in a black Tuxedo. Interestingly, he was the most well-dressed among the cast at the audio launch of Ponniyin Selvan 1 as well. Fans went berserk as he entered the venue and kept chanting "Vikram" until he waved hands at them.

During his speech, he expressed gratitude to Mani Ratnam with whom he worked for the first time in Raavanan in 2010. Playing the epic character Aditha Karikalan in Ponniyin Selvan franchise, he said, was a dream come true for him and thanked the entire crew.

Vikram left everyone guessing when he revealed the similarity he shares with Karikalan. The fierce warrior was unable to forget her first love Nandini even after she got married to Veerapandiyan. Karikalan beheaded Pandiyan which left Nandini furious after which she decided to bring down the mighty Chola dynasty.

The actor said that like Karikalan who kept Nandini in his heart, he, too, has been keeping the experience of having worked in the movie close to his heart. The face-off between Nandini and Karikalan is one of the most-expected moments in Ponniyin Selvan 2.
