The second instalment of Mani Ratnam’s historical drama franchise, Ponniyin Selvan 2, is set to be released in theatres on April 28, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Even while the first movie was a huge smash in most places, there were certain places where it underwhelmed. Despite having a huge star cast, the movie failed to make a good collection at the box office collections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Kollywood industry's dream project, PS 2, will have a range of things people haven't seen before.

Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions produced the film as one project for a budget of 500 crores. Since the film has a longer running time, it was decided to release it in two parts. As a result, the film's budget has been divided equally into 250 crores.

PS 1 collected over 500 crores worldwide and became the second-highest grossing Tamil film at the box office.

The audience wanted to see the outstanding director Mani Ratnam's directorial skills on the industry's fantasy production, whether they were familiar with the Kalki storyline or had already read the book. The first part, which had a simple plot, brought in more than 500 crore. The collection for the sequel part, which will be released on April 28, 2023, will surely exceed that of the first part. Numerous experts projected that PS 2, also known as Ponniyin Selvan 2, would bring in between 600 and 800 crores worldwide.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 stars Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Shobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles. In the film, Arulmozhi Varman will continue his journey to become Rajaraja I, the greatest ruler of the historic Chola Empire of South India.
