The Mani Ratnam magnum opus is all set to hit screens on April 28
The much-awaited anthem of Ponniyin Selvan is finally here! The power-packed single sung by AR Rahman and Nabyla Maan, has lyrics by Siva Ananth. The song talks about the Chola dynasty and their valour and a glimpse of the same was provided by the team today. In the meantime, the team is all set to begin its Chola tour in Chennai today, with the launch of the anthem at Anna University. The song was unveiled by none other than the composer himself, AR Rahman. The team will travel to Coimbatore, Delhi, Cochin, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Trichy to promote the film.
The film, helmed by Mani Ratnam, is all set to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. It will not only be released in IMAX format, but also in the 4DX format, the first south Indian to do so. The team is also planning a massive release in the US and the film's producers, Lyca Productions, themselves have turned distributors in the US market. In the meantime, we hear that the film's runtime will be 2 hours 50 minutes, which is almost the same as the first instalment.
Ponniyin Selvan stars Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi and Jayam Ravi as part of the lead star cast. The periodic film has a huge supporting cast, which includes Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashwin Kakumanu, Prakash Raj, Lal, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu to name a few. Cinematography is by Ravi Varman, editing by A Sreekar Prasad and art direction by Thota Tharani. Eka Lakhani has handled the costumes.

Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of Kalki's five-part novel of the same name. The film has been made in two parts, while the first part dropped in September 2022, the second film is all set to release in a span of two weeks. Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
