The film marks the second collaboration of the duo after Thani Oruvan (2015)
It looks like Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara's upcoming film, Iraivan, has finally locked its release date. The film, we hear, will hit screens on July 14. Iraivan is directed by I Ahmed and the film is touted to be a complete commercial entertainer. Jayam Ravi is said to be playing a cop in the film, but much hasn't been revealed about Nayanthara's character.
Interestingly, this is the second time that Nayanthara and Jayam Ravi are teaming up for a film. They had last worked together in Thani Oruvan (2015), which also marked the comeback of popular Arvind Swami as the villain, Siddharth Abhimanyu. The film was directed by Mohan Raja and revolved around a police officer's quest to capture an affluent scientist who makes money by illegal means.
It is to be noted that Iraivan is Jayam Ravi's second collaboration with director Ahmed as well. The duo has worked together in Jana Gana Mana, a spy thriller, whose shoot got stopped midway during the pandemic-induced lockdown.
Jayam Ravi was recently in Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2, in which he played the Chola Crown Prince Arunmozhi Varman. The actor has been receiving a lot of accolades for his performance in the film. The historical fiction is an adaptation of Kalki's novel of the same name and features an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi in the lead.
