Ponman actor Basil Joseph selects Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi for his Tamil debut
Currently filming in Sri Lanka, Parasakthi marks Basil's Tamil debut, though his casting remains unofficial

Actor and filmmaker Basil Joseph, who was last seen in Ponman, has joined the sets of upcoming Tamil film Parasakthi, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the production is underway in Sri Lanka, the casting of the Malayalam actor has not yet been officially announced by the team.

We have already reported that actor Sivakarthikeyan, who was last seen in blockbuster Amaran. Now, Sivakarthikeyan who is one of the top A-listers actors in Tamil cinema and has given many commercial hits is working with Sudha Kongara for Parasakthi. While the film already boasts a stellar star cast, including Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela and Atharvaa, the recent developments drop some exciting news.
Yet another powerhouse of talent will be joining the cast of Parasakthi. Basil Joseph has joined the team in the Sri Lanka schedule of the film, which also includes the portions of key cast members being shot. It is to be noted that Basil will be marking his Tamil debut with Parasakthi, which is yet to get a release date. Basil’s casting has been kept under wraps, but as per the social media buzz, photos have been leaked from the sets of the shooting spot.
Where to watch Ponman on OTT?
Basil was last seen in Malayalam drama film Ponman, which is currently available for streaming on JioHotstar. Directed by Jothish Shankar, this drama, based on GR Indugopan’s novel, follows gold dealer PP Ajesh navigating a complex situation involving stolen gold linked to a wedding.

Basil Joseph has been proving his worth as an actor in the recent days, by delivering hit after other in form of Sookshmadarshini, Pravinkoodu Shappu, and Ponman. The actor-filmmaker also has Maranamass coming up, which is produced by Tovino Thomas who starred in Basil’s Minnal Murali. Maranamass is set for Vishu 2025 release. Siju Sunny, Puliyanam Poulose, Suresh Krishna, Babu Antony, and Anishma Anilkumar are part of the cast.
