Pon Ondru Kanden OTT release date confirmed: Here's when, where you can stream this romantic comedy

The digital premiere of Pon Ondru Kanden has been planned to coincide with the celebration of Tamil New Year.

JioCinema has confirmed the digital premiere date for its next Tamil offering, Pon Ondru Kanden. The romantic comedy-drama will be available for streaming on April 14 from 2 PM onwards on its platform. The film's digital premiere has been planned to coincide with the celebration of Tamil New Year.

Simultaneously, Pon Ondru Kanden will also have its television premiere on Colors Tamil.

The cast and crew of Pon Ondru Kanden previously expressed shock over the film skipping the theatrical window in favor of a direct premiere on OTT and television. This seems to be the reason why none of the principals are actively promoting the movie ahead of its streaming debut.

Pon Ondru Kanden's direct OTT release spark controversy

A few weeks ago, actor Vasanth Ravi, who gained attention with his performance in Superstar Rajinikanth's last year's blockbuster Jailer, openly expressed his displeasure about the matter. He alleged that the cast and crew were kept in the dark about the television premiere of Pon Ondru Kanden.

"Extremely painful and disheartening to see the promo of #PonOndruKanden and announcement of World Satellite Premiere without any communication to @AshokSelvan, #Aishwaryalekshmi, @thisisysr sir, @directorpriya_v mam, or anyone associated with the film! We have worked really hard for this film. The whole team of #PonOndruKanden is totally unaware and not being informed about this at all!" rued Vasanth Ravi.

Vasanth Ravi lamented that despite being one of the lead actors in the movie, the producers never bothered to keep him or other members of the cast and crew informed about the developments related to projects. He noted that all updates regarding the movies came to him through social media. He even alleged that this approach showed a lack of respect towards "artists and creators."

Pon Ondru Kanden seems like a love triangle. Judging from the teaser, two childhood friends seem to turn against each other when they both desire the same girl.
