Police Story was a gamechanging film in the career of actor Sai Kumar and made him a commercially bankable actor in both Kannada and Telugu languages with its success. Many years after its release, a new age film, named after the star’s blockbuster, is coming to OTT. Noted filmmaker Suresh Krissna, the brain behind Basha is bankrolling the film under Suresh Krissna Productions.
Two upcoming actors Srinath Maganti, Shweta Avasthi played the lead roles in the film directed by Ram Vignesh. The film is skipping a theatrical release and will be out directly in the digital medium. Popular OTT platform ETV Win, owned by the Eenadu group, has acquired its streaming rights, and has decided to premiere the film on July 28, the coming Friday.
The trailer of the film was launched by the streamer recently. It begins with a sequence where an IT employee is murdered midnight and the cops are out to find any clues leading them to the culprit. Various colleagues and the friends of the employee are interviewed and a voice over indicates that they have read many crime novels with exposure to gore in news, cinema and OTT shows and are aware of how to commit a crime and escape scot-free.
Shiva, the cop says, ‘On entering the crime scene, I realised that it’s a crime planned and executed cleverly.’ The glimpse takes you through the internal politics within the department and showcases the many troubles that the cop faces as he tries to solve the case. He has issues with his colleague Riaz. Meanwhile, there’s immense political pressure to close the case soon.

Srinath Maganti, the lead actor, also starred in HIT: The First Case, Hit 2, Idhem Dheyyam and Bilalpur Police Station. Shweta Avasthi’s other releases are Malli Malli Chusa and Merise Merise. Suresh Krisnna also produced an OTT show for aha titled In The Name of God previously.
